Only 0.3% of humans work with AI, 99.7% just watch | Sergio Vital posted on the topic | LinkedIn
💡 Only 0.3% of humans actually work with AI. 🚨 The other 99.7% are watching. 83% of humanity has never used AI Read that again. Out of 8.3 billion people on this planet, 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 ~1.4 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐀𝐈 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥. And of those 1.4 billion? The vast majority use a free chatbot. No strategy. No depth. No real integration into their work. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐈 𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐲𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐝 𝐢𝐧 2026: → ~6.9B have never used AI (83%) → ~1.3B use a free chatbot (16%) → ~45M pay for a subscription (0.5%) → ~28M use AI in their actual workflow (0.3%) → ~25M use AI dev tools (0.3%) → ~18M are vibe coding (0.2%) → ~2M are AI academics (0.0%) Less than 1% of humanity is 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐈. This reminds me of the early internet in the '90s. Everyone talked about it — very few could build a webpage. The difference? AI's adoption curve is significantly faster. And the window of competitive advantage is significantly shorter. I work on AI infrastructure business and build AI agent systems every week as my side gig. What I see on the ground confirms this chart: most companies still treat AI as a toy, not as infrastructure. Another striking data point: 90% of notable AI models in 2024 came from industry — not academia. Innovation isn't waiting for peer review anymore. It's being shipped by people who execute. If you're reading this post, you're already in the minority. But the question that matters is: 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐈... 𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐭? The gap between those two groups will define entire careers over the next 3 years. ♻️ Repost if you believe AI isn't about hype — it's about execution. ↘️ You can play with the data here: https://lnkd.in/gwbVBp57
